Tehran Theater fest launches Gen. Soleimani section

The Tehran Theater Festival has announced call for entries.

The 27th edition of the event has called for registrations for four sections including Competition, Sacrifice, General Qassem Soleimani Special Section and educational workshops.

The General Qassem Soleimani Special Section has been added recently for the latest edition of the festival.

At this section, a number of plays will exclusively be designed, among which, one would enter the national theater festival in Yazd.

General Soleimani, who was the commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), was assassinated along with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), as well as eight others during a US drone strike at Baghdad’s international airport on January 3, 2020.

At the competition section of the festival, theaters that have been on stage since October 2021 to October 2022 will compete with each other.
